Parkland College Athletics named volleyball player Amanda Greening as its October Female Athlete of the Month. A sophomore outside hitter, she helped lead her team to a Mid-West Athletic Conference title and into the playoffs this fall.

Greening, from Metamora, IL, helped lead the No. 1 Cobras to a perfect 17-0 record for the month of October, including four conference matches that ended a complete sweep of all M-WAC opponents. The program benefited from her athletic skills on both offense and defense. Offensively, Greening recorded 188 kills, averaging 4/set, with an overall hitting percentage of .366. She was prolific defensively as well, with 27 digs and 23 blocks in a very productive month.

Much of Greening's impact is manifested beyond the team's matches. "Amanda is the perfect example of hard work and perseverance to move from non-starter to starter in her freshman year and then from role player to go-to player in her sophomore year," explained head volleyball coach Cliff Hastings. "Everyone who played in high school was their school's star, so moving to college can be a humbling and often emotionally and mentally challenging transition. Amanda always stayed patient while working as hard as she could, and that patience has paid off to lead her and her team to an outstanding season."
