Parkland College Athletics named golfers
Mason Ghidina and
Scott O'Brien as its October Male Co-Athletes of the Month. Ghidina, a sophomore, and O'Brien, a freshman, led their team to a Mid-West Athletic Conference title.
Ghidina, from Pekin, IL, and O'Brien, who hails from Ireland, produced identical output for the two tournaments that took place in October. In the Wabash College Golf Classic, the pair finished tied for 2
nd place, leading the team to an 8-shot championship victory. In the M-WAC Championship, Ghidina and O'Brien were co-medalists, finishing 4 strokes ahead of the field, and leading the team to its third straight conference championship.
"Mason and Scott had a very consistent fall season. They work hard on their weaknesses which will help them continue to be successful going forward," stated head golf coach
Corbin Sebens. "They are both very competitive, and hate losing, which has translated into their strong play and resulted in these top place finishes. I am confident they can use that momentum going into the Spring season."
