Parkland College Athletics named women's basketball player Emily Meinert as its January Female Athlete of the Month. Her team went 6-2 during the month. 

The sophomore forward from Galesburg, Ill., averaged 17.1 points, 11.1 rebounds, 2.4 assists, 1.3 steals, and 1 block per game in the month of January. She scored a season-high 24 points on January 16th, in a rout of Malcolm X CC, and recorded six double-doubles in the month, adding to her six from November and December. The six wins improved the team's season record to 18-3, while its conference record is 2-1.
 
"Emily is continuing to prove to be a dominate force inside with her work ethic unmatched," stated head coach Allie Lindemann. "Emily averaged a double-double in the month of January with 17pts and 11.3rpg.  She is a selfless leader who will continue to be a huge factor as the team heads into February and post season play."
