Parkland College Athletics named men's basketball player Carter Jeffries as its January Male Athlete of the Month. Jeffries led his team to a 5-1 record for the month and a #14 national ranking.
  
The sophomore guard from Niles, Mich., averaged 19.2 points, 3.5 rebounds, 1 assist, and 1 block per game during the month of January. He recorded a season-high 35 points on January 13th in a win over the Illinois Wesleyan JV team and led the team to a perfect 2-0 start in conference play. The Cobras' overall record is now 16-4, and it reached a #14 national ranking by month's end.
 
"Carter has continued his aggressive play, particularly on the offense end of the floor," stated head coach Anthony Figueroa. "We can tell his confidence has grown and his teammates are looking for him. He continues to work hard outside of practice and that's a huge reason for his success."
