Parkland College Athletics named men's baseball player David Ascencio as its February Male Athlete of the Month. Ascensio's team was 5-5 in February.
 
The redshirt freshman third-baseman from Joliet, Ill., had a batting average of .441 in the first ten games of the season. His on-base percentage was .578, and his slugging percentage was .588. He had 7 RBI, including a home run. He stole 4 bases and scored 10 runs himself.
 
Head coach, Jonathan Goebel, stated, "David is a low maintenance guy. He is a hard worker who has good values and a great approach to his academics. He also puts in his time working at the other athletic events here at Parkland, supporting other Cobras athletes."
