Jonathan Velasquez, the sophomore from Lincoln, Neb., scored 3 goals and had 1 assist in four matches, helping his team to 2 wins and 2 losses in the month of May. On May 5 vs. Illinois Central College, he helped the Cobras erase an 0-2 deficit, producing 2 goals and an assist in the final twenty-four minutes, to ultimately win the match, 4-3. He was then awarded the May 3-9 NJCAA DII Men’s Soccer Player of the Week based on his performance.
“Jonah has been a great example of a student-athlete not giving up when confronted with a series of setbacks, both on and off the field,” stated Head Coach Mark Sikora. “While we saw he could possibly reach such heights when we recruited him, it has been so satisfying to see him work up to his potential and be a great teammate!”
Velasquez is the son of Jonathan Velasquez. His academic pursuits include Physical Education.
