The # 17 Parkland Men's Soccer team got two second half goals on Saturday as they defeated rival Heartland 2-0 in an important Region 24 contest. Parkland now stands (12-3 4-1 Region) while Heartland drops to (8-8 3-3). Parkland controls their own destiny and can secure the #1 seed in the Region 24 Tournament with a victory over SWIC on Tuesday. A loss or tie would most likely drop the Cobras to the #2 seed.
After a scoreless first half which saw both teams having a couple of solid scoring chances, PC would finally get on the board ten minutes into the second half as
Jesus Reina scored his 13th goal of the season as Miso Madeal picked up the assist as a trio of Cobras worked around the Hawks defense. Heartland kept the pressure on and missed a golden opportunity to tie the match with just under three minutes remaining but the PC defense rose to the occasion. Jean
Bruno Omanga would put the game away with just 58 seconds left on the clock as he scored his first goal of the season with an assist to
Logan Willard.
Lorenzo Giaretti picked up the shutout in goal as he had 3 saves on the afternoon.
