The Parkland College Volleyball team improved to (23-0) on Friday as they defeated Rock Valley and Muskegon CC 3-0 on the opening day of the Parkland Invitational. The Cobras will be right back at it on Saturday morning when they take on a very strong D-1 Vincennes team (14-3) starting at 9 am. PC will face Southwestern Illinois at 7 pm in a Region 24 showdown.
Against Rock Valley, PC won 25-10, 25-14, 25-19. Eloise van Velthooven led the team with 13 kills, 12 digs and 5 blocks.
Sidney Heck had 7 kills,
Shelby Nunamaker 6 kills and
Katelyn Riffle had 5 kills.
Ashley King notched 28 assists, and
Bailee Dunne had 28 digs while
Maggie Sorenson had 12 digs.
In the evening match, the Cobras defeated Muskegon 25-16, 25-11, 25-18. Fia Willis had 14 kills and 18 digs,
Alivia Dew had 12 kills and 3 blocks, and van Velthooven totaled another 9 kills and 7 digs.
Leah Anderson had 37 assists, and Dunne secured 22 digs.
Gabby Morrow added 5 blocks to her season total.
