QUINCY, Ill. – The fourth-ranked Parkland volleyball team won its 20
th match of the season with a 3-0 sweep (25-9, 25-20, 25-14) of John Wood Community College on Wednesday evening. With the victory, Parkland improves to 20-1, 2-0 in the M-WAC, while John Wood falls to 2-11.

Its fourth straight win, Parkland dominated the Blazers from start to finish, beginning with a 16-point victory in the opening set behind a .571 hitting percentage. Overall, the Cobras hit .338 in the sweep to go along with 9.5 blocks.
Freshman outside hitter
Abigail Burnett reached double digit kills for the second time this season to lead the Cobras, earning 10 kills with 13 attacks with a .692 hitting percentage. Freshman
Amanda Greening finished one kill behind Burnett with nine kills on 19 swings.
Keeping John Wood from getting comfortable at the net, sophomore
Maddie Allen made life difficult for the Blazers' attack with nine blocks, including a solo block. The nine stuffs by Allen sets a new season-best mark, surpassing an eight-block output at Lincoln Land a week ago, September 5.
Drawing her first start of the season, freshman
Ellie Stone led Parkland's back row with 13 digs. Stone also put pressure on the Blazers' defense with four of the Cobras' six aces, the most for Stone in a three-set match this season.
Up next, Parkland will play six matches this weekend, September 14 and 15, at the Southwestern Illinois Tournament. The Cobras will play at 11 a.m., 5 p.m. and 7 p.m. central time on Friday, and then at 9 a.m., 1 p.m. and 5 p.m. on Saturday.
