BELLEVILLE, Ill. – The fourth-ranked Parkland volleyball team won all 15 sets at the Southwestern Illinois College Tournament this weekend, finalizing the five victories with sweeps of Lindenwood JV, St. Louis CC and Millikin JV on Saturday. With the five wins this weekend, the Cobras extend its winning streak to nine straight matches and improve to 25-1 overall.

Winning each set by at least six points, the Cobras outscored its five opponents 375-217. Leading Parkland was an efficient offense that posted a combined .265 hitting percentage. Defensively, the Cobras block provided a consistent presence with 31.5 stuffs across the five matches.
Freshman outside hitter
Amanda Greening dominated the Cobras' opening match of the day, scoring 15 kills on an errorless 28 swings. The 15 kills and 0.528 hitting percentage each rank as the second best this season by Greening, just shy of her 16-kill performance (.762 hitting percentage) against Oakton on August 26. Setter
Ashley King directed the attack with 30 assists, while opposite hitter Abby Burnett and middle blocker
Dakota Harmon led the defense with five and six blocks, respectively.
The Cobras spread the ball around offensively in its second win on Saturday, receiving at least six kills from four different players in the sweep of St. Louis. Freshman outside hitter
Ryleigh Warfel led the four with nine kills, while
Maddie Allen and
Rachel Verdun each registered seven and
Gabby Wessels adding in six. Warfel also recorded 12 digs defensively, finishing second on the team to
Maggie Sorenson's 13.
Rounding out the weekend, the Cobras defeated the Millikin JV team behind another balanced attack. 12 Cobras got in the kill column, led by nine from
Amanda Greening, as the Cobras hit .341 as a team. Setters
Rachel Verdun and
Ashley King shared duties, tallying 13 and 18 assists, respectively, while
Ellie Stone contributed 10 digs for the Parkland defense. From the service line, the Cobras dished out nine aces to back the offense.
Up next, the Cobras return home for its home opener on Tuesday, September 18, against Lewis & Clark at 6 p.m. before hosting a tournament next weekend, September 21-23.
