Volleyball Sweeps Past Lewis & Clark

Cobras host tournament Friday through Sunday

CHAMPAIGN, Ill. – No. 4 Parkland volleyball won its home opener on Tuesday night against Lewis & Clark, sweeping the M-WAC foe in straight sets (25-6, 25-9, 25-19). Improving to 26-1 overall, the Cobras remain unbeaten in conference matches with a 3-0 record.

Stretching its winning streak to 10 straight matches, the Cobras dominated the match with a .309 team hitting percentage, including .360 in the opening set, 13 blocks and nine service aces. Overall, 11 different Cobras recorded a kill, while 10 tallied a block.
 
Freshman outside hitter Amanda Greening led the team in kills in her first career home match, tallying 10 kills on 15 swings. The double-digit kills mark the second such performance by Greening in the last four matches.
 
Defensively, Parkland was led by freshman Abigail Burnett with five blocks and 10 digs from redshirt sophomore Anita Jenkins.
 
The first home match of 2018 is the first of seven matches played at the Donald Dodds Athletic Complex this week. The Cobras will host the Parkland Tournament this weekend, September 21-23, playing two matches each day.
