Volleyball Finishes Undefeated Weekend at Owens Invite

Cobras continue 44-set winning streak

TOLEDO, Ohio –  The Parkland women's volleyball team wrapped up an undefeated weekend at the Owens Invitational on Sunday with straight-set victories over No. 20 Muskegon (25-20, 25-18, 25-15) and Sinclair (25-6, 25-17, 25-21). The 7-0 weekend, including four wins over ranked teams, improves the Cobras undefeated start to the 2018 campaign to 15-0.

In the Muskegon (MI) match, both of Parkland's starting outside hitters, Ryleigh Warfel and Gabby Wessels recorded double-digit kills with an efficient hitting percentage. Warfel earned her sixth double-double of the season with 13 kills and 17 digs, while Wessels just missed a double-double of her own with 11 kills and 9 digs. Freshman setter Rachel Verdun also recorded a double-double, her fifth of the season, dishing out 37 assists and tallying 13 digs. At the net, freshman middle blocker Dakota Harmon led the team in blocks with seven after stuffing eight attacks in Saturday's win over Oakland.
