EAST PEORIA, IL – Parkland women's soccer finished its season at 3-11 (1-2 M-WAC) with a 1-6 loss to Illinois Central College in the Region 24 quarter-finals.
The Cobras scored 14 minutes into the match, when
Sarah Hohenstein found
Maria Jorquera, who was able to beat the Cougars keeper. ICC was resilient, however, and held a 4-1 advantage at the half. Parkland ended with 24 goalkeeper saves, including a PK, but ICC scored 2 more in the second half to put the match away.
The Cobras will graduate 4 sophomores from the current squad. Returning next season will be 12 current freshmen, including the team's two leaders in points:
Maria Jorquera (10 goals, 6 assists) and
Mary Woods (5 goals, 6 assists).
