BOONE, IA – No. 1 Parkland volleyball swept two more matches at the Des Moines Area Community College (DMACC) Tournament, winning in straight sets over #2 Coffeyville (25-19, 27-25, 25-13) and #7 Highland (KS) (25-22, 25-9, 25-13). With the back-to-back top-10 victories, the Cobras have now won 22 straight to improve to 39-1 overall, 7-1 against ranked opponents.
In Match 1, a rematch of last year's NJCAA DII Championship, a double-double from
Ryleigh Warfel (12 kills, 12 digs) led to both offensive and defensive dominance. Offensive assistance came from
Summerlyn Smith (26 assists) and
Rachel Verdun (14 assists), and
Amanda Greening (15 kills) led the team in kills. Defensive highlights included 65 team digs, led by
Brooke Norder (14 digs) and Warfel.
In Match 2,
Ryleigh Warfel (10 kills, 13 digs) racked up her 10
th double-double of 2019. Adding to the team total of 49 kills, additional offense came from
Amanda Greening (13 kills) and
Paige Yoder (8 kills), and they were assisted by
Summerlyn Smith's team-high 22 assists.
Paige Yoder (3 aces) and
Ellie Stone (2 aces) combined for 5 of the team's 7 aces. The Cobras' 59 defensive digs included those by Warfel,
Brooke Norder (14 digs) and
Ellie Stone (11 digs).
Next up for Parkland will be the Mid-West Athletic Conference Tournament, which Parkland is hosting on Friday, October 11
th, and Saturday, October 12
