No. 3 Parkland 8, No. 6 Northern Oklahoma-Enid 3 (7 inn.)

Freshman Ricky Castro tossed four shutout innings, striking out eight, and a trio of Cobras recorded multi-hit games to lead the Cobras past the sixth-ranked Jets for the second straight day.

Tallying an efficient eight runs on nine hits, leadoff hitter Trevor Burkhart and first basemen Daniel Warkentin each recorded three hits while third basemen Alex Steinbach added a pair of base knocks. Warkentin led the team with three RBI, while Burkhart and catcher Robert Barnard drove in two apiece.

After Castro stranded a leadoff double in the bottom of the first, the Cobras got to work to lead off the second inning with a one-out double by Warkentin to score a pair. Then, with two outs, Burkhart and Barnard supplied back-to-back singles to plate two more for a 4-0 lead.

Castro continued to keep the Jets in check with a three-up, three-down second inning and a solo hit in the third before the Cobras again added on in the fourth. A hit by pitch and a Warkentin double set the table for a wild pitch and Burkhart's second RBI single to push two more runs across, extending the Parkland lead to 6-0.

With the Jets threatening in the bottom of the fourth with the bases loaded and only one out, Castro finished his day with his seventh and eighth strikeouts of the day to escape the jam.

A Warakentin RBI double in the fifth and a Graves single in the sixth padded the lead to hold off two Jets runs in the fifth and a third run in the sixth. Logan Pillars pitched the final three frames for the Cobras, allowing two earned runs while striking out one.
