QUINCY, Ill. – Sophomore forward
Yu Sasaki scored all four goals to lead the Cobras to a 4-3 victory at John Wood on Saturday night. Sasaki scored the game-tying goal in the 61
st minute and then knocked home the winning goal in the 79
th minute.
With four goals on Saturday, Sasaki now ranks in the top-10 nationally in both goals and points. Surpassing his total from last year in both categories, the sophomore striker has 15 goals (6
th) and 37 points (5
th). The seven assists also rank among the best in NJCAA Division I as the 17
th most.
Trailing three different times in the match, Sasaki scored twice in the first half to keep the score level. After John Wood took a lead in the fifth minute, Sasaki scored an unassisted goal in the ninth minute. Trailing 2-1 in the 32
nd minute, Sasaki knocked home a pass from
Ivai Warella to send the Cobras into halftime tied, 2-2.
John Wood took their third, and final, lead five minutes into the second half, but Sasaki responded 10 minutes later to tie the match, 3-3. Still tied in the 79
th minute, sophomore
Naoto Uede found Sasaki one final time for the game-winning tally.
