CHAMPAIGN, Ill. – No. 1 Parkland volleyball wrapped up an undefeated Parkland Volleyball Classic with wins over Owens (25-14, 25-9, 25-13) and Millikin JV (25-9, 25-12, 25-16) on Sunday. Winning their season-best 16
th and 17
th straight matches, the Cobras improve to 34-1 on the season.
Ryleigh Warfel and
Abigail Burnett led Parkland attack in the opening game of the day, while
Paige Yoder and
Hannah Benson provided production at the net on offense and defense. Warfel just missed a double-double with 14 kills and nine digs with Burnett chipping in 10 kills. At the net, Benson (seven kills, four blocks) and Yoder (six kills, four blocks) combined for 13 kills and eight blocks.
The Cobras picked up their fifth sweep in six games on Sunday by outscoring Millikin JV 75-37 behind a .373 hitting percentage. The offense was led by
Mallory Bergbower with seven kills, while Brittney Liton (six kills) and
Ryleigh Warfel (five kills) chipped in 11 kills combined.
Paige Yoder led Parkland to nine team blocks with four individual blocks, while
Katie Kaiser added three more.
Up next, Parkland will conclude its seven-game home stand with a ranked M-WAC battle against No. 13 Illinois Central at 6 p.m. central time on Wednesday, October 2.
