Box Score 2 CEDAR RAPIDS, Iowa – Going a full five sets for the first time this season, the Parkland Cobra Volleyball team fell 3-2 (22-25, 22-25, 25-21, 25-20, 11-15) to No. 9 Kirkwood in their second match on Friday at the Kirkwood Tournament in Cedar Rapids, Iowa.
Sophomore Abigail Burnett turned in 15 kills while middle hitter sophomore Paige Yoder had 13 and sophomore outside hitter Amanda Greening pitched in 10.
Leading in assists was sophomore setter Rachel Verdun with 43 and 10 digs for a double-double. Defensive specialist sophomore Brooke Norder led the team in digs with 33. Ryleigh Warfel had 13 digs.
In the first match on Friday, Parkland defeated No. 18 Central Nebraska 25-22, 25-18, 25-21.
Brooke Norder had 22 digs while Ryleigh Warfel contributed 10. Rachel Verdun led with 14 assists while freshman setter Summerlyn Smith had 13. Amanda Greening had 11 kills and hit .360.
The No. 1 ranked Cobras are to take on No. 3 Johnson County at 9 a.m. and then Sauk Valley at 11 a.m. on the final day of the Kirkwood Tournament in Cedar Rapids, Iowa. Parkland is now 17-1 overall.
