Box Score CHAMPAIGN, Ill. – The Parkland Cobra Men's Soccer team was locked in a duel against Jefferson County (M0) on Saturday afternoon that ended in a 1-1 tie after two overtime halves.
The Cobras battled and scored after a penalty kick at the 21:57 mark in the second half when sophomore forward Yu Sasaki kicked the goal.
Jefferson scored earlier in that half when Antonio Aranda scored after a penalty kick.
At the 40:57 mark in the second half, freshman goalie Matteo Gigliozzi had a huge save — one of four.
Parkland took a total of three shots-on-goal. Freshman forward Jonathan Velasquez and sophomore Takumi Seo each had a shot-on-goal.
Parkland had three corner kicks for the day while Jefferson had 10 and took a total of five shots-on-goal.
The Cobras are set to return to action when they host MWAC opponent Heartland on Tuesday at 4 p.m. Parkland Cobra Men's Soccer is now 4-0-1 overall.
