CHICAGO, Ill. - The No. 15 Parkland men's basketball team fell to 11-4 with an 86-91 loss at Richard J. Daley College (9-9).
The Cobras were up at the half, leading 41-40, but were struggling defensively to string together stops and make significant runs. Rebounding numbers at that point were also even. Though the Bulldogs had a height disadvantage, they seemed to play more aggressively throughout most of the game.
In the second half, with about six minutes remaining, a Bulldogs run essentially sealed the game. Back-to-back Parkland turnovers, both leading to Daley 3-pointers, created a 17-point deficit that was ultimately too deep to overcome.
The Cobras ended the game with 14 turnovers, compared to 11 for the Bulldogs. Daley also scored more from the arc, converting eight 3-pointers, compared to two for Parkland. The four Cobras who led in scoring were
Carter Jeffries (20 points, 7 rebounds),
Bruno Williams Jr. (19 points, 6 rebounds, 2 assists),
Charles Campbell Jr. (13 points, 6 rebounds, 2 assists), and
Tommy Makabu (10 points, 4 rebounds).
Up next, the Cobras are in Champaign, Ill., to host the Illinois Wesleyan JV team on Monday, January 13th, at 6:00 pm.
