CHAMPAIGN, Ill. - The No. 18 Parkland men's basketball team improved to 13-4 with a 74-48 win over Malcolm X College (5-10).
The Cobras jumped to a 31-23 halftime lead, led by
Charles Campbell Jr. (13 points, 5 rebounds) who had 12 first-half points, 9 of them on perfect 3-for-3 shooting from behind the arc. Parkland was getting outrebounded at that point, but had forced 15 Hawks turnovers to compensate.
Offensive accuracy picked up in the second half, as
Bruno Williams Jr. (20 points, 2 assists),
Kamari Kenemore (10 points, 5 rebounds), and
Kelvin Swims (10 points, 2 assists) began to hit key baskets. The Cobras finished the game shooting 55% from the field, while holding Malcolm X to only 37%.
Joey Saracco (7 points, 7 rebounds) was strong on the boards, but the Cobras stilled lagged behind the Hawks in that category, 26-31. Parkland ultimately forced 25 turnovers, while committing only 14 of its own.
