CHAMPAIGN, Ill. –No. 19 Parkland women's basketball moved to 13-2 with a decisive 92-45 win over South Suburban College (8-9).
Naomi McDaniel (16 points, 10 rebounds) recorded a double-double to pace the Cobras in shooting and rebounding.
Parkland came out of the gates hot and quickly built a 27-13 lead after one quarter, a lead that was extended to 23 by the half. In the third, the visiting Bulldogs were held to 9% shooting from the field, scoring only 3 points in that quarter. The Cobras forced 30 turnovers, and its bench outscored South Suburban's, 49-2.
Joining McDaniel with double digits in scoring were
Peyton Crowe (14 points), who was 4-5 from 3-point range,
Alex Specht (12 points),
Emily Meinert (11 points, 5 rebounds, 5 assists), and
Bree Trimble (11 points, 5 rebounds, 2 steals). Parkland combined to shoot 61% from the field for the game. Leading the team to a total of 32 assists on 36 baskets were
Gema Alegre (8 assists, 2 steals), Meinert,
Lotte Miller (4 assists), and
Ariana Booker (4 assists).
Cassie Russo (5 rebounds) helped McDaniel, Trimble, and Meinert to dominate the boards, 36-24.
