CHAMPAIGN, Ill. - The No. 20 Parkland men's basketball team (18-5, 3-1 MWAC) won its final non-conference game, 89-41, over Kennedy-King CC (11-15, 5-2 CCC).
The Cobras started strong, building a 16-point halftime lead.
Carter Jeffries (17 points) led the team in that stanza, with 14 points off 3-6 shooting from behind the arc.
In the second period,
Joey Saracco (24 points, 8 rebounds, 4 blocks) began to dominate down low, and
Kamari Kenemore (12 points, 3 rebounds, 5 assists) came off the bench to score in double-digits for the second straight game.
Led by
Tommy Makabu (6 assists) and Kenemore, the Parkland offense produced 22 assists on 34 baskets. The Cobras shot 58% from the field in the second half, while its defense held Kennedy-King to 23%. Parkland out-rebounded the Statesmen, 38-33, with the highest production coming from Saracco and
Kelvin Swims (8 points, 7 rebounds).
