NORMAL, Ill. – Parkland baseball (8-5) trailed 0-5, came up big in the ninth, and then walked-off with a 7-6 win against Indian Hills-Centerville (3-9).
Camden Nisenson (2-5, 3 RBI) produced the tenth-inning heroics with a game-winning single.
Up next, Parkland will begin Mid-West Athletic Conference play with a 2-game, home-and-away, series with Heartland CC. The teams will square off in Bloomington on Saturday, March 14th, at 2:00 pm, and then will play in Champaign the following day, March 15th, at 1:00 pm.
Parkland 7, Indian Hills CC 6 (10 innings)
Parkland trailed, 0-1, after two innings and, 0-5, after four. In the bottom of the fifth, the Cobras' bats finally came alive, producing two runs. By the time Parkland came to bat in the bottom of the ninth, it trailed 3-6. Pinch hitter
Corey Price hit a game-tying single that capped a three-run ninth inning for the Cobras and sent the game into the deciding tenth.
Jimmy Deangelo (4ip, 3er, 1k) started on the mound for Parkland. He was relieved by
Brennan Dolwick (2ip, 4k) and
Chase Gockel (2ip, 4k).
Tristan Cazel (2ip, 1er, 4k) came in in the ninth and earned his first collegiate win.
The Cobras had 16 hits on the day, with
Hogan McIntosh going 3 for 5.
