Box Score CEDAR RAPIDS, IA., – The No. 3 seeded Parkland College volleyball team beat No. 14 seed Richard Bland College in straight sets (25-8, 25-13, 25-20) in the first round of the NJCAA DII National Tournament. Parkland advances to the second round and a matchup with No. 6 seed Terra State Community College.
 
The Cobras (53-3) jumped out to an early lead with a fast 25-8 first set and the Statesmen (19-9) struggled to regain momentum. Parkland's offense was very balanced; five players scored seven or more points and four players ended with seven or more kills, resulting in a first round win in straight sets. Sophie Young continues to lead Division II in total assists, tallying 30 more in the win over the Statesmen.
 
Up next, Parkland faces off against No. 6 seed Terra State Community College on Friday, November 19^th in the second round of the NCJAA DII National Tournament. The match is set to start at 5:30 PM CT.
