SPRINGFIELD, Ill. – Parkland College Men's Basketball (6-4, 2-1 M-WAC) used a huge second half to defeat Lincoln Land CC (0-5, 0-3) by the final score of 86-58.
The Cobras jumped out to a 22-4 lead to start the game, but the Loggers scored 13 straight to pull within 5 points, 22-17. By the halftime break, Parkland had pushed the lead back up to nine, at 31-22.
In the second half, the Cobras shot a blistering 81% from the field, scoring 55 points and limiting Lincoln Land to 36.
Savon Wykle (20 points, 4 rebounds) led all scorers in the game, scoring 14 after the break. Also scoring in double digits were
Kelvin Swims Jr. (13 points, 6 assists, 3 steals) and
Kevin Bishop II (11 points, 6 rebounds).
Parkland also won the battle of the boards, 40-26.
Jordan Burge (10 points, 10 rebounds), who led the team in rebounds, came off the bench to earn his first a double-double. Other rebouding leaders included Bishop II and
Jamil Hardaway (9 points, 6 rebounds).
Swims Jr. and
Deonte Douglas (7 points, 6 assists) combined for 12 of Parkland's 20 assists.
Up next, the Cobras travel to Canton, Ill., to take on Spoon River College on Sunday, February 28. Tip-off is scheduled at 3:00 pm.
