No. 1 Cobras Rattle Off Two More Victories

CHAMPAIGN, Ill. – No. 1 Parkland College Volleyball (16-0) swept two more non-conference matches Sunday, taking care of both Kankakee CC and Frontier CC. The Cavaliers (6-6) and the Bobcats (1-14) were in Champaign competing in Parkland Tri #3.
 
Up next, the Cobras travel to Springfield, Ill., for an important M-WAC showdown with No. 14 Lincoln Land College on Wednesday, March 3, at 6:00 pm.
 
No. 1 Parkland- 3 Kankakee- 0  (25-19, 25-16, 25-13)
 
Halle Everett (10 kills, 10 digs, 4 blocks, 3 aces) notched her sixth double-double of the season, landing second on the team for kills, digs, and blocks, and leading the Cobras in service aces. Hailey Sperling (14 kills, 2 blocks) led Parkland in kills, and Brittney Litton (14 digs) was on top for digs.
 
Summerlyn Smith (37 assists, 9 digs) took care of initiating the offense, while Jayden Sortor (7 kills, 7 blocks, 4 digs) was dominate at the net.
 
Additional key contributors on the attack included Kayla Brandon (12 digs) and Isabella Classen (10 digs), while Arika Richardson (8 kills, 3 blocks) and Katie Kaiser (6 kills, 4 blocks) were each effective both offensively and defensively.

Kayla Brandon (10 assists, 13 digs, 3 aces) produced her first double-double of the season, helping out Summerlyn Smith (13 assists, 7 digs) with setting duties, and leading the team in digs. Also in double-digits with digs, Halle Everett (15 kills, 10 digs, 4 blocks) produced her seventh double-double of the season, hitting at a sizzling pace of .565. Sophie Young chipped in eight digs of her own.
 
Joining Everett on the attack, Arika Richardson (9 kills, 4 blocks) and Hailey Sperling (9 kills) split 18 additional kills.
 
At the net, Everett, Richardson, Jayden Sortor (6 kills, 4 blocks), and Katie Kaiser (5 kills, 3 blocks) combined for 15 individual blocks, helping produce a total of 9 team blocks.
