No. 1 Cobras Rebound, Sweep Two Matches

Defeat Spoon River and John Wood in Spoon River Tri

CANTON, Ill. – No. 1 Parkland College Volleyball (23-1) swept both matches at the Spoon River Triangular, defeating both Spoon River (1-13) and John Wood (8-9) in non-conference action. Summerlyn Smith had two double-doubles on the day.
 
Up next, Parkland travels to Crystal Lake, Ill., to compete in the McHenry County College Triangular on Sunday, March 14. The Cobras will face Bryant and Stratton College at 1:00 pm and, immediately after, No. 11 McHenry CC at 3:00 pm.

Summerlyn Smith (33 assists, 11 digs) produced a double-double, leading Parkland in assists and coming in 2nd in digs. Other top performers in the back line were Kayla Brandon (18 digs, 2 aces), Brittney Litton (8 digs), and Isabella Classen (6 digs).
 
On the offensive attack, Hailey Sperling (13 kills) led the way, with major support from Halle Everett (10 kills, 2 aces, 8 digs, 2 blocks) and Arika Richardson (9 kills, 2 blocks)
 
Jayden Sortor (4 aces, 6 digs, 5 blocks) led the Cobras in aces and blocks.

Halle Everett (10 kills, 6 digs, 6 blocks) and Hailey Sperling (10 kills, 3 digs) split 20 kills, and Arika Richardson (8 kills, 2 blocks) added 8 of her own.
 
Summerlyn Smith (27 assists, 13 digs, 2 blocks), Brittney Litton (13 digs), and Kayla Brandon (12 digs) combined for 38 of Parkland's 63 digs, while Isabella Classen chipped in 9.
 
Jayden Sortor (4 kills, 8 blocks) was a force at the net, tallying 8 blocks.
