CHAMPAIGN, Ill. – Parkland College Softball (14-1) picked up two wins, by the scores of 10-2 and 8-2, over Frontier CC (5-5) on Sunday afternoon.
In game one, it was tied at 2 in the middle of the fourth, but the Cobras scored 8 in their next two at bats to end things early.

Josie Birch pitched her best performance of the year in game one," stated Co-Head Coach
Kristi Paulson. "She was mixing it up well and hitting her spots."
In game two, Parkland led 6-1 after two innings. The visiting Bobcats could only add 1, while the Cobras added 2 more for the final margin.

Anna Walker had a huge week at the plate, and she kept that going today," expressed Co-Head Coach
Dan Paulson. "Our defense was solid all day, turning 3 double plays. It is nice to see us execute the things that we focus on in practice."
Up next, the Cobras remain in Champaign, Ill., to host Rock Valley College for a doubleheader on Tuesday, March 16. Game times are 2:00 pm and 4:00 pm.
Game 1: Parkland- 10, Frontier- 2 (5 innings)
After a scoreless pair of innings, Frontier plated 1 in the top of the third to take a brief lead. In the bottom half,
Eden McAvoy (2-2, 1 RBI) led off with a solo home run, and
Anna Walker (2-3, 2 RBI) singled in
Kaylee Warren (1-1, 1 RBI), giving the Cobras a 2-1 lead after three.
Frontier tied the game, 2-2, in the fourth, but Parkland scored 2 more to extend its lead to 4-2. In the fifth, the Bobcats could not score, and the Cobras exploded for 6 runs to end the game. The bottom half was highlighted by a
Reagan Cheely (2-3, 2 RBI) 2-run home run and singles by
Ashley Lynch, Walker,
Madison Vogel (1-3, 1 RBI), and McAvoy.
Taylor Dugger (2-3) had 2 doubles in the game.
Josie Birch (2-0) was the winning pitcher for Parkland. The righty allowed three hits and two runs over five innings, striking out three.
Game 2: Parkland- 8, Frontier- 2 (7 innings)
Anna Walker (3-3, 1 2B, 1 HR, 4 RBI) drove in runs on a sacrifice fly in the first, a home run in the second, and a double in the sixth.
Summer Johnson (2-4, 1 RBI),
Lizzy Davis (2-3, 1 HR, 2 RBI), and
Isabel Shafer (2-4, 1 3B) joined Walker with multiple hits in the game.
Madison Vogel (1-3, 1 RBI) chipped in with an RBI single in the first.
Emily Senjan (3-1) was the winning pitcher for Parkland. She surrendered two runs on five hits over five innings, striking out one.
Chayse Ramey threw two innings in relief.
