CHAMPAIGN, Ill. – No. 2 Parkland College Volleyball (28-1) honored six sophomores prior to its final regular season match, a 3-0 (25-18, 25-12, 25-16) victory over Rend Lake College (8-7). The Cobras ended the regular season with a 28-1 overall record, finishing 5-0 in M-WAC conference play.
Halle Everett (17 kills, 10 digs) produced her thirteenth double-double of the season while
Summerlyn Smith (37 assists, 13 digs, 5 blocks) recorded her ninth, leading the team in assists and blocks.
Everett led the Cobras in kills, with additional offensive production from
Jayden Sortor (11 kills, 3 blocks),
Hailey Sperling (7 kills), and
Arika Richardson (7 kills).
In the back line,
Brittney Litton (14 digs), Smith,
Kayla Brandon (11 digs) and Everett were all in double digits in digs. At the net, Smith, Sortor, and
Katie Kaiser (6 kills, 3 blocks) combined for 11 of Parkland's 12 block assists.
Isabella Classen (7 digs, 3 aces) served up 3 of Parkland's 7 aces.
Up next, Parkland begins postseason play. The Central A District Championship takes place in Champaign, Ill., on Saturday, April 3. Opponents and times are to be announced.
