No. 1 Cobras Sweep Two at Frontier Tri-Match

Defeat Lincoln Trail and Frontier

FAIRFIELD, Ill. – No. 1 Parkland College Volleyball (21-0) swept two non-conference matches in the Frontier Tri-Match, winning 3-0 over both Lincoln Trail College (4-7) and Frontier CC (4-15).
 
Up next, Parkland faces a top-5 challenge, traveling to East Peoria, Ill., to battle M-WAC rival and No. 3-ranked Illinois Central College on Wednesday, March 10, at 6:00 pm.
 
No. 1 Parkland- 3,  Lincoln Trail- 0  (25-5, 25-18, 25-8)
 
Parkland hit .500 as a team, as Hailey Sperling (14 kills, 4 digs, 4 blocks) and Halle Everett (12 kills, 7 digs) surpassed double digits in kills. Jayden Sortor (9 kills, 6 blocks) and Arika Richardson (9 kills, 6 digs, 4 blocks) combined for another 18.
 
Kayla Brandon (14 digs, 4 aces) led the defense in the back line, with Isabella Classen (7 digs, 2 aces) and Everett providing support. At the net, Sortor had 6 blocks while Sperling and Richardson split another 8. Katie Kaiser chipped in 3 of her own.
 
Brandon, Summerlyn Smith (41 assists, 3 aces, 5 digs), and Classen each had multiple aces, combining for 9 of Parkland's total of 10.

Ella Godsell (19 digs, 3 aces) Reilly Swierbut (12 digs, 4 aces) set the pace on the defense, with help from Brittney Litton (8 kills, 6 digs) and Sasha Zuckerman (6 digs).
 
Halle Everett (16 kills, 2 blocks) led the attack, as Arika Richardson (10 kills) also reached double digits for kills. Litton and Katie Kaiser (8 kills) combined for 16 additional.
 
Sophie Young dished out a career-high 44 assists, while Kanay Benschneider (5 kills) was dominant at the net with 5 blocks.
