QUINCY, Ill. – No. 16 Parkland College Softball (34-5, 10-2 MWAC) posted 17-8 and 10-2 victories over conference foe John Wood CC (9-16, 4-9) on Thursday afternoon. Isabel Schafer was a combined 6-for-8 with 5 RBIs in the two-game series.
Up next, Parkland travels to Canton, Ill., for an MWAC doubleheader against Spoon River College on Friday, April 16. Game times are 3:00 pm and 5:00 pm.
Game 1: No. 16 Parkland- 17, John Wood- 8 (6 innings)
Parkland led 3-1 after one, 8-3 after two, 13-8 after three, and 14-8 after five. Neither team scored in the fifth, and the Cobras added 3 in the sixth to end the game early.
Twelve Cobras contributed to a team total of 18 hits, and nine had at least 1 RBI. Players with multiple hits were

Chayse Ramey (16-1) pitched Parkland to victory, going four and a third innings, allowing three runs on three hits and striking out seven.
Josie Birch (0.2 IP, 5 H, 5 R, 5 ER, BB) and
Sydney Eichelberger (1 IP, 1 H, 1 K, 1 BB) entered the game out of the bullpen and helped to close out the game.
Game 2: No. 16 Parkland- 10, John Wood- 2 (5 innings)
Parkland led 7-1 after three innings and 9-2 after four on the way to the five-inning, 8-run, victory.
Isabel Shafer (3-4, 2B, 2 RBI) and
Ashley Lynch (2-2) had multiple hits for the Cobras, while
Lizzy Davis (1-3, 3 RBI),
Anna Walker (1-3, 2B, 2 RBI), and
Madison Vogel (1-2, RBI) each contributed by knocking in a run.
Sydney Eichelberger (2-0) was the winning pitcher for Parkland. The righty surrendered two runs on six hits over four innings, striking out two and walking one.
Emily Senjan threw one inning in relief out of the bullpen, surrendering no hits or runs.
