VINCENNES, Ind. – No. 12 Parkland College Baseball (28-9, 19-3 MWAC) won games one and two of a four-game MWAC series with Vincennes University (17-25, 5-17) by final scores of 5-4 and 11-0.
Up next, the Cobras will be in Champaign, Ill., to play games three and four of the four-game series on Sunday, May 2. The first pitch of game three is scheduled at 1:00 pm.
Game 1: No. 12 Parkland- 5, Vincennes- 4 (9 innings)
Parkland scored 1 in the first inning when
Hogan McIntosh (2-4) stole second base and then advanced to home on two throwing errors. After four innings, the score remained 1-0, Cobras.
In the fifth, Parkland plated 2, one of which was
Jimmy Rybarczyk who singled and scored on a fielder's choice. Rybarczyk crossed home plate again, in the seventh, after drawing a walk and getting knocked in by an
Austin Biehl double.
Cole Evans drew a walk in the eighth, stole second, and , on a
Nicholas Fazzari single, scored what would ultimately be the winning run.
The Cobras were up, 5-0, and that final run was crucial as Vincennes scored 4 in the bottom of the eighth to draw within one. Neither team was able to score in the ninth.
Parkland outhit the Trailblazers, 8-2, but committed 4 errors in the field.
Paxton Thompson (7-1) threw for seven and two-thirds innings, picking up the win for Parkland. He allowed 4 runs (0 earned) on two hits and one walk, striking out eleven.
Ari Gordon (1.1 IP, 1 K, 1 BB) earned the save.
Game 2: No. 12 Parkland- 11, Vincennes- 0 (5 innings)
Parkland scored 2 in the first and 7 in the third, as it built a 9-0 lead after three innings. One additional run was added in both the fourth and fifth innings, leading to an early end to the game.
Austin Biehl (4-4, HR, 2 RBI) was perfect at the plate and blasted a 2-run home run.

Jay Schueler (4-2) pitched a complete-game shutout victory for Parkland. He allowed one hit and one walk, while striking out eight.
