No. 14 Cobras Softball Sweeps Lewis & Clark CC

GODFREY, Ill. – No. 14 Parkland College Softball (31-4, 8-2 MWAC) cruised in two conference wins over Lewis & Clark CC (1-15, 0-8) by scores of 14-1 and 15-0.
 
Up next, Parkland travels to East Peoria, Ill., for a non-conference doubleheader against Illinois Central College on Monday, April 12. Game times are 3:00 pm and 5:00 pm.
 
 
Game 1: No. 14 Parkland- 14,  Lewis & Clark- 1  (5 innings) 
 
Parkland scored 6 in the first inning and added 4 more through fourth. The Trailblazers scored 1 in the bottom of the fourth, but that was it for the home team. The Cobras added 4 to close the game out after five innings.
 
Sydney Eichelberger (4-5, RBI) and Reagan Cheely (3-4, 2-2B, 3 RBI) were the hottest bats for Parkland, while Emily Senjan (2-2, HR, 2 RBI), Aynsleigh DeFries (2-2, RBI), Taylor Dugger (2-3, 3B, 2 RBI), and Anna Walker (2-3, RBI) each added a pair of hits.
 
Emily Senjan (6-1) earned the victory in the pitcher's circle for Parkland. The righty allowed one hit and zero runs over three innings, striking out two and walking one. Sydney Eichelberger (2 IP, 2 H, 1 R, 4 SO) threw in relief out of the bullpen.
 
 
Game 2: No. 14 Parkland- 15,  Lewis & Clark- 0  (5 innings) 
 
After a scoreless first inning, Parkland scored six in the second and nine in the third to put the game away.
 
Five Cobras had a pair of hits in the game. Eden McAvoy (2-2, HR, 4 RBI) had a home run while Sydney Eichelberger (2-2) drew two walks and scored twice. Reagan Cheely (2-3, 3B, 3 RBI) knocked a three-bagger, and Isabel Shafer (2-4, 2B, 5 RBI) and Kaylee Warren (2-4, 2B) each contributed a double.
 
Chayse Ramey (14-1) went two innings and was the winning pitcher for Parkland. She allowed one hit and no runs while striking out three. Josie Birch (2 IP, 1 H, 1 BB) and Sydney Eichelberger (1 IP, 1 SO) entered out of the bullpen and combined to close out the game.
