Season Ends for Cobras Baseball

NORMAL, Ill. – The Parkland College baseball team started the day in the NJCAA Central District (Region 24) Tournament with an 11-3 win over No. 4 seed Danville Area CC (28-18) but fell in the nightcap, 7-9, to No. 6 John Wood CC (27-31).
 
With the loss in the second game, Parkland wraps up the 2020-21 season with an overall record of 36 wins and 17 losses. The Cobras were 23-9 in MWAC play, finishing in second.
 
 
Game 1: #2 Parkland- 11,  #4 Danville Area- 3 (7 innings) 
 
Parkland scored one run in the first inning, one in the second, and four in the third to jump out to a 7-0 lead.
 
Neither team scored in the fourth, but Danville Area got on the board with three in the fifth, cutting the Cobras' lead to four, at 7-3.
 
After a scoreless sixth, Parkland scored four in the top of the seventh and the defense ended the game early.
 
 
Game 2: #2 Parkland- 7,  #6 John Wood- 9 (9 innings) 
 
John Wood scored one in the top of the third, but Parkland scored three of its own to take a 2-run lead after three innings.
 
The Blazers plated five in the fourth, while the Cobras added only one. Parkland trailed, 4-6.
 
In the fifth, the Cobras added three runs, taking a 7-6 lead that held through the eighth.
 
In the top of the ninth, John Wood scored three, taking a late, 9-7, lead. Parkland put two men on base but could not get anyone across.
