Women’s Soccer Wins Second in a Row

Izzy Fritz scores twice

CHAMPAIGN, Ill. – The Parkland College women's soccer team won their second game of the season on Saturday afternoon, defeating Lincoln Land Community College by a score of 4-1.
 
"Back-to-back wins always feels great," said Head Coach Dan Vogelsang after the win. "This team's confidence is growing every day and it was visible in today's victory.  Our players continue to impress the coaches with their growth."
 
The Cobras (2-3-0) started off strong by scoring two goals in the opening half and adding one more in the second. The Loggers (1-5-0) couldn't find the back of the net until there were just eight minutes left in the contest, making the score 3-1, but then the Cobras responded two minutes later. Parkland is now on a two-game win streak, winning both of their contests at home.

Izzy Fritz led the way for the Cobras with one goal and two assists. Freshmen Elise Hertling had one of her best games of the year with a goal and an assist in the second half and goalkeeper Rebecca Painter had a great game with seven saves and an assist.
 
"I am proud of this teams' work ethic and how they are finding their identity," said Vogelsang afterwards. "With the direction this team is heading we are going to see a lot more success this year."

Parkland will be hitting the road again on Monday, September 13th for their game against Kishwaukee College in Malta, IL. Kickoff is scheduled for 4:00pm
