CEDAR RAPIDS, Iowa. – The No. 2 seed Parkland College volleyball team faced a tough test against No. 6 seed one-loss Scottsdale Community College in the NJCAA DII National Semifinals on Friday, November 18th, and the Cobras fell in straight sets, 3-0 to the Artichokes. Parkland College led early in all three sets, but Scottsdale had an answer all evening as the Cobras were swept for the first time this season against an NJCAA Division II opponent in the program's 11th straight National Semifinals appearance. 2022 Region 24 Player of the Year Kat Blase led the team with 12 kills as freshman Emma Robben tallied a team-high seven blocks in the loss.

The Cobras (54-3) were the first to ten in a back-and-forth first set, but the Artichokes (26-1) took an 11-10 lead and never let it go, winning the first set 25-19. Parkland led out of the gates in set number two, but Scottsdale retook the lead midway through the set and held onto it despite the Cobras tying the set three times in a heartbreaking 25-23 loss. Parkland opened the third set on a 4-0 run, but the Artichokes flipped the script, scoring five straight, and led 16-12 at the first timeout. The Cobras trimmed the deficit down to two, fueled by Kat Blase's five third-set kills, but the team could not complete the comeback, and Parkland lost the match in three sets.

Up next, the Cobras will face No. 1 seed Johnson County Community College in the NJCAA DII National Tournament Third Place Match on Saturday, November 19th. The match against the Cavaliers (36-4) is scheduled to start at 4:00 PM at the Alliant Energy Powerhouse Area in Cedar Rapids, Iowa.
