No. 14 Cobras Lose 3-0 at Lincoln Trail College

Parkland falls to 3-3-1 on the season

Box Score ROBINSON, Ill. – The No. 14 Parkland College men's soccer team couldn't find the back of the net on Wednesday afternoon, as the Cobras lost 3-0 at Lincoln Trail College. The Cobras entered the contest averaging four goals per game, but the team failed to score against the Statesmen for the first time this season. This loss marks the first road loss this season for Parkland College.

"The score line definitely doesn't tell the whole story today," Parkland head coach Mark Sikora said after the game. "The team stood toe-to-toe with an extremely strong Division I team. It came down to Lincoln Trail finishing their three chances and we hit everything except the back of the net today."

The Cobras (3-3-1) battled with the Statesmen (6-2) in the first half as both teams looked for a chance to get on the board. Lincoln Trail finally broke through just before the break, scoring in the 44th minute to take a 1-0 lead into halftime. In the second half, the Statesmen doubled the lead in the 57th and added an insurance goal in the 74th. Parkland matched their opponent with six shots on goal in the loss, but the team lost 3-0 on Wednesday night in Robinson. Sophomore Frank Heck totaled three saves for the Cobras.

Up next, the Cobras match up against John Wood Community College in Quincy, Illinois on Saturday, September 17th. Kickoff against the Blazers (3-2) is scheduled for 2 PM.
