CHAMPAIGN, Ill. – The No. 14 Parkland College men's basketball team picked up another win at home 73-58 over Rend Lake College on Saturday, November 11. The Cobras (4-0) held the Warriors (1-2) to 24-58 (41%) from the field and outrebounded their opponents 34-23 in the win. Sophomore forward Isaac Mapson III (16 points, 6 rebounds) led the team in scoring and brought in five offensive rebounds, while sophomore guard
Jabryn Anderson tallied a team-high six assists.

"I liked our resiliency and toughness, especially when things got a little hot," second-year head coach John Bowler said after the game. "All the credit goes to the players. They did a good job."

Bowler credited his team's "toughness and tenacity" on the defensive end, saying, "This team fights and fights. Even when things don't go our way, we just keep fighting, and I think it has a lot to do with the work that these players put in. They trust each other and they play some tough defense."

The Parkland defense held Rend Lake scoreless for a five-minute stretch in the first half, building an early lead, and back-to-back three pointers gave the Cobras a 20-10 lead with 10:11 until halftime. The Warriors shot 50% from three to stay within striking distance, cutting the deficit to 33-30 with 1:20 remaining in the half, but the Cobras closed out the half with a 36-30 lead. Jabryn Anderson jumper put the team up 48-43 with 12:26 on the clock. The Warriors trimmed the Cobra lead to three with 10 minutes to go, but the Parkland defense stepped up again, allowing just 10 points the rest of the way. The Cobras shot 11-14 (79%) from the free throw line in the second half, leading by as much as 16 down the stretch, and Parkland won 73-58. The Cobras outscored the Warriors 26-18 in the paint in the win.
