No. 1 Parkland Men’s Basketball Wins 82-79 at Hocking College

The Cobras come from behind on the road to improve to 13-0

NELSONVILLE, Ohio. – The No. 1 Parkland College men's basketball team survived a scare at Hocking College on Sunday, December 17, grinding out an 82-79 win on the road. The Cobras (13-0) fell behind early in the first half but closed the gap to two at halftime. The Hawks (7-5) got to the free throw line frequently in the second half, but a big spark of energy from the Cobra bench and clutch free throws from redshirt freshman Drew Lewis Jr. helped the visitors complete the comeback and hold on for the win. Sophomore Isaac Mapson III led all scorers with 19 points as Parkland extended its program-best start to 13 consecutive wins.

"Part of the reason we wanted to play his game was we knew it would be against a good team in a tough road environment," Parkland head coach John Bowler explained after the game. "Our guys met the challenge head-on and pulled out the win. Wins like this one will definitely prepare us for what we will see in conference play."

Scoring Summary:

Ken Sallee: 13 points
Brylan Phillips: 12 points, 4 rebounds, 4 assists
