No. 20 Cobras Win at Northwest Mississippi Community College 5-1

Parkland freshman William O’Gorman earned the win in his first start

SENATOBIA, Miss. – The No. 20 ranked Parkland College Baseball team wrapped up its six-game road trip with a 5-1 win at Northwest Mississippi Community College on Wednesday, March 15th. The Cobras (12-3) took the lead in the top of the 5th inning and never let up, outhitting the Rangers 7-6 in their fourth straight win. Champaign native William O'Gorman struck out seven batters in his first collegiate start, and sophomore Logan Reidelberger hit his first home run of the season in the win.
 
Up next, Parkland returns to Illinois to begin M-WAC conference play on Monday, March 20th, with a doubleheader at Spoon River College. First pitch between the Cobras and the Snappers (7-7) is scheduled for noon on Saturday in Canton, Illinois.

The Cobras struck first, as freshman Chase Becker (1-3, RBI, R, BB) knocked in Jake Vitale (1-2, R, 2B, 2 BB) to give Parkland a 1-0 lead in the top of the 1st inning. The Rangers (13-9) leveled the score in the bottom of the 1st, and the teams remained tied through the 4th inning. First basemen Logan Reidelberger (1-5, RBI, HR) hit a go-ahead solo home run in the top of the 5th to put the Cobras in front, and Parkland scored twice more to make it 4-1 going into the bottom half. Shortstop Tylor Phommachanhom scored freshman Josh Outlaw on a sacrifice fly in the top of the 7th, and the Parkland pitching staff held NWMCC scoreless for the final eight innings as the Cobras won 5-1 on the road.
 
Starting pitcher William O'Gorman (2-1) allowed five hits; and one earned run in six innings of work, striking out seven of the 23 batters he faced. Freshman Richie Snider (2.0 IP, 1 H, 0 ER) relieved O'Gorman in the 7th, and Colorado native Alejandro Maltos-Garcia pitched a 16-pitch 9th inning to close out the win.
