GALESBURG, Ill. – The No. 12 ranked Parkland College Baseball team picked up two road wins at Carl Sandberg College on Tuesday, May 2nd, defeating the Chargers 13-8 and 9-2 at their place. The Cobras (38-10) outhit the Chargers 23-12 on Tuesday, including seven extra-base hits, to extend their current win streak to five straight games. Parkland pitchers
William O'Gorman (4.0 IP, 4 H, 0 ER, 5 K) and
Sam Bryan (2.0 IP, 1 H, 0 ER, 4 BB, 3 K) earned wins against the Chargers (19-25), and infielder
Austin Gomm led the team with five hits in the doubleheader sweep.

Up next, Parkland will resume conference play at Vincennes University on Saturday, May 6th. First pitch against the Trailblazers (21-27) (9-15) is scheduled for 1:00 PM EST in Vincennes, Indiana.

The Cobras struck first, taking the lead on a
Ryan Snell (3-3, 3 RBI, 3 R, 2 SB) RBI single in the top of the 1st inning before
Tyler Herron (2-4, 2B, 3B, 3 RBI, R) drove a 2-RBI double to center field, scoring Snell and
Chase Becker (3-5, 2B, RBI, 2 R, SB) to give Parkland an early 3-0 lead. Sophomore
Austin Gomm grounded an RBI single into left field in the 2nd, and
Luke Parmentier (1-3, RBI, BB, SB) drove in a run in the 3rd to make it 5-0 Parkland. Gomm (4-5, HR, 3 RBI, 3 R) extended the lead to 6-0 with a solo home run in the 4th, his 15th of the season, but the Chargers got a run back in the bottom half. Carl Sandberg trimmed the deficit to 8-6 with a rally in the bottom of the 5th, but Parkland answered with a 4-run 6th, capped by an
Angelo Luna (3-4, 2 RBI, R, SB) RBI single. The Charger offense got going again in the 8th, but it was too little too late, as the Cobras won game one 13-8.

Parkland grabbed an early lead again in game two, scoring five runs in the top of a wild 2nd inning. The Cobras added to the lead in the top of the 3rd when
Chase Becker scored on an error, but the Chargers scored in the bottom half to make the score 6-1 Parkland. In the 6th, outfielder
Angelo Luna (1-3, HR, 2 R) lifted a solo home run out to center field, and third baseman
Luke Parmentier (1-2, 3 RBI) drove in
Nate Bingman and
Josh Outlaw to give the Cobras some insurance. Carl Sandberg got a run back in the bottom of the 6th, but in the end, Parkland cruised to a 9-2 victory in game two.

Freddie Elftmann (1.0 IP, 2 H, 1 ER) relieved Bryan in the 3rd, and
Hunter Pudlo (2.0 IP, 1 H, 0 ER, 3 BB, 5 K) pitched the 4th and 5th innings. Relievers
Sebastian Gutierrez (1.0 IP, 1 H, 1 ER) and
Louis Stallone (1.0 IP, 0 H, 0 ER, 2 K) finished the game on the mound, and the Cobras won their fifth straight game.
