SPRINGFIELD, Ill. – The No. 8 Parkland College men's basketball team rallied from a slow start to earn a 71-60 win on the road versus Lincoln Land Community College on Saturday, January 27. The Cobras (19-2) (4-1) trailed in the first half, and the Loggers (8-9) (3-2) held a two-point lead at the break, but a strong second half powered Parkland to the win. Sophomore
Brylan Phillips (13 points, 9 rebounds) dropped 13 second-half points to lift the Cobras – while fellow Decatur native
Jabryn Anderson (20 points, 4 rebounds, 3 assists) led all scorers. Parkland outrebounded Lincoln Land 39-29 while shooting 46 percent (28-61) from the field in the win.

"I'm proud of our guys and the way they competed today. Always good to win on the road in-conference" second-year head coach John Bowler revealed after the game. "Our depth and defensive intensity really elevated us in the second half. I think we put ourselves in a good position to win when we guard like we did today."Â
Following an early 5-5 tie, Parkland fell behind 16-7 with 10:16 remaining, calling a timeout as both offenses struggled early. The Cobras went on a 7-0 run out of the timeout to draw the Loggers in, and a
Grant Coleman three put Parkland ahead 22-21 with 6:09 on the clock, forcing a Lincoln Land timeout. Sophomore
Jabryn Anderson buried a three to extend the lead, but the Loggers battled back to lead 31-29 at halftime. The Cobras quickly tied the game in the second half, but the Loggers still led 45-37 midway through following a basket and-one with 14:26 to go. Another 8-0 run from the Cobras over the next 2:16 tied the game 45-45, and Parkland took its first second-half lead, 50-47, on a
Drew Lewis Jr. three with 10:09 left in the game. Anderson knocked down another three out of a timeout with four minutes remaining to give the Cobras a 60-51 lead. One last 7-0 Parkland run put the visitors up 67-54, and the Cobras cruised to a 71-60 win.
