Box Score 2 NORMAL, Ill. – The No. 4 Parkland volleyball team competed in the Heartland Invite on Friday, October 11th, winning two matches on the first day. The Cobras (35-2) defeated No. 18 Moraine Valley Community College (16-3) in five sets and Des Moines Area Community College (15-13) in three sets.

The Cobras played a competitive back-and-forth match against Moraine Valley Community College to start the day. Parkland won the first set (25-22) and the third set (25-17), but the Cyclones came out on top in the second set (25-22) and the fourth set (25-16), which led the two teams to play a fifth set. In the end, the Cobras outlasted the Cyclones in the final set (15-12), led by
Addie Beekman with 26 kills and 25 digs.
Ashlee Freeman had 26 assists and
Hailey Warfel added 25.Â

Shay McMillen led the Cobras offensively in the second match of the day against Des Moines Area Community College, totaling 11 kills in three sets. The Cobras tallied 72 digs, with 21 from
Libby Bodine and 18 from
Alayna Rudebeck.

Up next, the Cobras remain in Normal for the second day of the Heartland Invite on Saturday, October 12th. Parkland plays Hawkeye Community College (8-16) at 1:00 PM and No. 20 Rock Valley College (21-8) at 5:00 PM.Â
