Box Score CHAMPAIGN, Ill. – The Parkland College women's soccer team won its first match of the season against Illinois Valley Community College (5-8-1) on Tuesday, October 15th.
The Eagles got on the board first, scoring in the 19th minute. In the 31st minute, the Cobras (1-13) leveled the score with a goal from
Jenna Clemmons. Three minutes later,
Megan Janson found the back of the net and put the Cobras ahead. Parkland's defense shut down IVCC in the second half, and the Eagles were unable to score again.
Six different Cobras took nine shots in the match, with eight shots on goal.
Lera Wilson led the Cobras with three shots on goal, and
Katie Clark,
Ella Gessner,
Megan Janson,
Jenna Clemmons, and
Faith Walker-Padilla all had one. Goalkeeper
Leire Rodriguez recorded 23 saves to help secure the 2-1 win at home.
Up next, Parkland hosts Kaskaskia College (6-2-2) on Saturday, October 19th. The match is scheduled for 12:00 PM at the Parkland College Soccer Field.
