Box Score COUNCIL BLUFFS, Iowa – The Parkland men's soccer team fell to Division I No. 4 Iowa Western Community College (14-0-2) on Saturday, October 19th. The Cobras close out the regular season with a record of 7-6-3 after losing to the Reivers 8-1 on the road.
"To say we were outmatched today would be a gross understatement," Parkland head coach
Mark Sikora admitted. "The first few moments of the match went fairly well, we even scored a goal, but nothing really went right after that."
The Cobras were able to get on the board first with a goal from
Santiago Samame in the 6th minute. After that, the Cobras were unable to score again, and the Reivers found the back of the net eight times. Parkland had four shots on goal in the loss. Goalkeeper
Haruki Arakawa made two saves in 45 minutes of play.
"A ton of credit goes to the opponent today who gave us a humbling lesson on how far away we are from being a top team in the nation," Sikora added. "Our guys fought as hard as they could and sustained substantial injuries in the effort so we will need to take some time for physical and mental recovery."
