CHAMPAIGN, Ill. – No. 3 Parkland volleyball defeated Carl Sandburg College (31-8) and No. 9 Sauk Valley Community College (28-6) on the second day of the Parkland Region Crossover Tournament on Saturday, October 26th. 

The Cobras never lost the lead in the first set to Carl Sandburg College, winning 25-17. Set two was a hard fought back-and-forth battle between the two teams. The Cobras were able to maintain the lead for most of the set after it was tied 5-5, but the Chargers came back late to tie it again 21-21. The Chargers were able to pull out the win after tying it up once more (23-23), defeating the Cobras 25-23. Similar to set two, the Cobras led a majority of the third set until the end, when the score became even again (22-22). This time, the Cobras came out on top (25-22), with the final point coming from an Addie Roesch kill. With momentum on their side going into set four, the Cobras were able to control the final set and win 25-11. Brooklyn Holdener led the way with 13 kills, followed by Riley Ries with 11 kills. Ashlee Freeman contributed 25 assists, five digs, and three aces. 
 
The Cobras got down early to No. 9 Sauk Valley Community College in set one, but fought back to tie 13-13 and ultimately win the set (25-21). Parkland went on to win set two (25-20) and set three (25-14) to secure the sweep against the Skyhawks. Addie Beekman led the Cobras with 12 kills and 17 digs. Alayna Rudebeck also had 17 digs, in addition to six assists and two aces. After the two wins, the Cobras close out the regular season and finish with a record of 46-2. 
 
Up next, the Cobras begin postseason play on Saturday, November 9th. Parkland will host the NJCAA DII Central District A Championship and play at 11:00 AM. The winner of this match will play at 3:00 PM on the same day.
