No. 19 Parkland Falls to Elgin Community College

Cobras lose third match in a row

Box Score  CHAMPAIGN, Ill. – The No. 19 ranked Parkland men's soccer team dropped a match to Elgin Community College (10-3-2) on Saturday, October 5th. The Cobras (4-5-3) fell to the Spartans 1-0, losing the third match in a row.

"Our inability to score has been the Achilles heel again today," Parkland head coach Mark Sikora stated after the match. "It really overshadowed a fine effort by most of the team and I really feel bad for them. They did everything they could to find the tying goal but there seems to be a curse placed on us at the moment and we are struggling to find consistency to get us over the top versus teams that we should be getting winning results against."

Parkland totaled seven shots on goal, but they were unable to find the back of the net in the loss. The Spartans scored the only goal of the match in the 38th minute.

"No one will feel sorry for us, so we need to toughen up and prepare for the most difficult challenge of the season," Sikora concluded.

Up next, the Cobras will battle No. 11 Heartland Community College (7-3-2) on Wednesday, October 9th. Kickoff is scheduled for 4:00 PM at the Parkland College Soccer Field.
