Box Score 2 CHAMPAIGN, Ill. – No. 2 Parkland volleyball advanced to the NJCAA DII National Tournament with a 17th straight District Championship Title on Saturday, November 9th, defeating Spoon River College and Lincoln Land Community College in the Central A District Championship at the Donald C. Dodds Jr. Athletic Complex. The Cobras (48-2) swept both the Snappers (14-28) and the Loggers (17-22) to secure the title.
Parkland cruised to a 25-5 victory in the first set against Spoon River College. The Snappers came closer in the next two sets (25-17, 25-20), but the Cobras were able to earn the win with the help of outside hitter
Addie Roesch, who recorded eight kills.
Libby Bodine had 26 digs and
Alayna Rudebeck added 21. Setter
Hailey Warfel produced 17 assists.
Lincoln Land Community College was the next opponent for the Cobras after defeating Metropolitan Community College to advance to the title match. The Loggers kept it close in set one (25-19), but the Cobras took control in set two (25-10). Parkland tallied 10 kills in the third set and closed out the match with a 25-20 win.
Addie Beekman led the way for the Cobras with 11 kills, followed by
Riley Ries with eight. The Cobras totaled 74 digs as a team in the match.
Up next, Parkland will travel to Cedar Rapids, Iowa, for the NJCAA DII National Tournament, beginning on Wednesday, November 20th. The Cobras find out what seed they have earned on Wednesday, November 13th, during the NJCAA DII National Tournament Seeding Announcement on the NJCAA Network.
