No. 14 Cobras Go 1-1 at Parkland College Classic

Vonderheide and Ruffin lead the offense

Box Score 1 | Box Score 2 CHAMPAIGN, Ill. The Parkland women's basketball team started the 2024-2025 season off 1-1 after defeating Moraine Valley Community College and falling to Division I John A. Logan College at the Parkland College Classic.
 
The Cobras faced Moraine Valley Community College (0-2) in the first game of the Parkland College Classic on Friday, November 1st. The Cobras led the Cyclones at the end of the first quarter after freshman Danielle Ruffin made a three-pointer to make the score 22-17. The Cobras kept the lead in the second quarter, going into halftime with a 45-30 advantage over the Cyclones. The Cyclones closed the deficit to 60-49 in the third quarter, putting the pressure on the Cobras. The two teams battled in the last quarter, and the Cyclones cut the lead to five points in the last 26 seconds of the game. Parkland's defense was able to shut down the Moraine Valley offense at the end of the game, securing the 77-72 win at home. Stacie Vonderheide scored 20 points in the win. 
 
The Cobras dropped a heartbreaking 78-77 decision to John A. Logan College (1-1) on Saturday, November 2nd. The Cobras led the Lady Vols by as much as 15 points in the second game of the Parkland College Classic, but were unable to come out on top. Parkland was led by Danielle Ruffin, who had 18 points. Ruffin also led the team in assists (4) and steals (5). Parkland went 27-42 (64.3%) from the field and 2-7 (28.6%) from three in the loss.
